The Kiwi School believes that education should be filled with fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovering; all ways of developing self-esteem in a positive manor for each child. We provide an atmosphere that encourages academic, emotional and physical growth of a child. Kiwi believes children should be encouraged to use their creativity, as this is an important aspect of learning. The safety and welfare of your child is our primary concern. Our aim is to make school life better and more enriching for all. We are only limited by the stretch of our imagination: thus we are continually looking for new ways to challenge the child's mind and open doors to the future for each child.
The teachers have many goals for each school year and for each child. Some of the academic skills the kindergarten children will learn each year include:
• Writing stories using invented spelling.
• Recognizing upper and lower case letters and sounds.
• Completing math operations such as sorting, classifying, adding and subtracting.
• Reading basic sight words, color and number words.
• Naming the months of the year, days of the week, colors and numbers 1-20 in English and Spanish. Our goal is to promote intellectual growth and creative expression. We want every child to strive to the best of their ability, and with high self-esteem and confidence needed to develop a desire to learn.
