The Kiwi Nursery (ages 3-4) and Kindergarten (age 5) are separate, coed, and self contained programs that are directed by early-childhood teachers. It is a camp within a camp with many of the activities of the main camp along with it's own program of 'low keyed' academic readiness programs.
The 'Lower Camp' is very much the part of the entire camp experience. There are 12 in a group with three staff members. A Head Staffer (a teacher or parent) and two collegiate group leaders. There are two additional activity members in each activity. Sports and swimming have many more. Some of the activities include: Two swims daily in heated pools (instructional and recreational), all sports, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, nature, ropes course (with zip-lines), climbing wall, mini-golf, beach play, water slides, boating, highlighted events and much, much more!
Camp Kiwi offers a special summer program to children who are either entering Pre –School or Kindergarten. The program is offered from June 27 - August 19, 2011. This special offer is available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm OR Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm. Transportation is not available. There are no make-up days and no substitutions. Ages 3-7 ONLY have 2, 3 or 5 Day options.
The program includes athletic, aquatic, recreational, and cultural activities on the extensive Kiwi campus. Each week is a new and exciting theme and a new schedule. Every Friday is entertainment day. Swimming takes place twice a day in our heated swimming pools; once being an instructional swim and once being a recreational swim.
The 'Counselor in Training' program introduces the counseling experience to our 14 & 15 year-olds with the hope that one day they can be recruited as members of our staff. The C.I.T.'s will assist the senior staff and counselors with their groups in their choice of activities. Here all the basics of counseling are taught from how to conduct activities to learning the basic leadership skills. In the afternoon the C.I.T.'s follow their own schedule continuing to use what they have learned.
The C.I.T. program for 14-15 year olds provides your teen with an opportunity to learn and experience leadership and organizational skills. These will become an important part of your child's developmental skills that they will use throughout life. The 16 year olds, having completed the first two years of CIT, will have an opportunity to become a full time Intern. After being an Intern, they will then have an opportunity to become part of Kiwi's dynamic staff.
